How Inspection Grades Work

San Diego County grades every food facility on a 100-point scale.

A

Satisfactory

Score 90–100

The facility is in satisfactory compliance with state law and received no major violations.

B

Needs Improvement

Score 80–89

The facility has some issues that need correction. A re-inspection may be scheduled.

C

Failing Grade

Score 79 or below

Serious violations were found. The facility must correct issues promptly or may face closure.

A note on violations: Violations shown are from the inspection date listed. Many violations are corrected on-site or before the next re-inspection. A historical violation does not mean a restaurant is currently unsafe. Always check the date and view the source record for the most current status.

Built for Transparency

Grayte is an independent website that makes San Diego County restaurant inspection records easy to find and understand. We don't rate restaurants — we just show you the public health data that already exists, in a clear format with source links.

Public data, clearly presented

All inspection records come directly from San Diego County DEHQ and are linked to the source.

Updated weekly

We fetch new inspection results every week so you always have the most recent data available.

Context included

Every grade and violation shows the inspection date. We never present historical data as current fact.
